Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an evidence-based, practical and empowering program that brings the principles of mindfulness meditation into everyday life. You will learn specific skills and practices to build your innate capacity to break cycles of anxiety, stress, unhappiness and exhaustion.
This course provides an in-depth approach to shifting your habitual thinking mind into a new and freer framework.

The online format allows you to attend this course from the comfort of your home, and giving opportunity for a wonderfully genuine face-to-face experience. Depending on the state-of-play, the full-day session will be held in person at a city venue so you will have a chance to meet your fellow participants in person.
All you need is a private space that is warm and comfortable, in which you have room to move, lie down, and be part of each class via your device and internet connection. From the convenience of your own home, you can learn some vital new skills that will support you for the rest of your life.
This is the same program as televised on Catalyst on ABC television last year – there are many Mindfulness courses and classes available out there these days, but this is the ridgy-didge AND extensively researched Mindfulness program that started the modern Mindfulness ball rolling…
How does MBSR work?
Through the learning and cultivation of skills, attitudes and knowledge MBSR offers a tested approach to develop our innate human capacities for attention, awareness and wise action. You will learn a range of mindfulness practices which encourage an observant, accepting and compassionate stance towards your internal experiences including thoughts, emotions, body sensations and impulses, and how to apply this in a practical way to this moment now – whether it be challenging and difficult or joyful and exhilarating.
MBSR is different from many other mindfulness offerings in terms of dedicated attention with a teacher, time spent in actual practice and the transformative power of the experience with other people in the group.
In MBSR change happens through:
Psychological regulation ~ learning how to calm down and balance your nervous system
Emotional awareness ~ getting to know your own emotions and how to accept, explore and transform them
Cognitive flexibility ~ developing more concentration and clarity, and less rigidity in your beliefs and attitudes
Engagement with values ~ bringing what you care about into how you live
Behavioural change ~ experimenting with small changes leading to bigger shifts in life

This Program is for you if ...
A bit about me – Cherise Vallet
I came to Australia from Canada in 1989, on a personal adventure quest. Along the way, some difficult life circumstances led me to taking up a regular practice of mindfulness and yoga in 1998. Truly, this ongoing practice has sustained me through thick and thin over the intervening years.
The internal changes I’ve experienced were (and continue to be) compelling, and have led me to teacher training in yoga and its therapeutic application; and to Mindfulness Meditation training. Specifically the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program, which has a very particular, evidence-based curriculum.
I am a member of Meditation Australia, as well as a qualified teacher of the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course, through Mindfulness Training Institute of Australia. I am also a senior teacher with Yoga Australia. I specialise in teaching meditation techniques that support calm, resilience, and healthy choices in living. These include Mindfulness Meditation practices, specific breathing techniques, and therapeutic yoga.

As part of international guidelines for this program, a pre-enrollment interview is part of the process. This gives us a chance to discuss aspects of the program and how I may support your participation as well as any questions you may have.
